You Are Your Choices

chanceThis is the title of a book by Alexandra Stoddard.  One of the chapters is titled ‘Information Is Not Inspiration’.  “We collect facts and data in an endless stream.  The Internet is limitless; it is overwhelming.”  Oh wow – I am not the only one who feels this way, apparently.   I have searched for almost 2 decades (has it been that long?)  looking for more and more information on the Internet and reading and purchasing books and attending lectures, talking with people in the fitness profession about health and well-being, trying new recipes, researching diets and obtaining different forms of nutrition advice, looking through magazines and books that explain various exercises and catalogs that sell hundreds of forms of equipment.  There is no “right’ answer.  There is no magic diet or exercise protocol that provides the answer.  There is no answer – eat lots of natural, clean foods and move every day  — this is the simple truth.

“Empty and be full” the ancient Chinese sage Lao Tzu wrote.  “When your mind is so full of preconceived notions, you have no room for insights and fresh inspiration.”

There will be no nutrition or exercise recommendations this month.  Just look up and notice the sky, the warmth of the sun on your skin, close your eyes and be thoughtful, bring kindness and patience everywhere you go, be insightful and do those things that bring you joy and happiness.  Breathe deep this month, slow down and remember that how we live and how we feel defines who we really are.
