Back to School —What to Feed the Kids?

healthy eating, back to school1. Avoid the artificial – If a label includes “artificial ingredients” or “imitation” in the description, put it back on the shelf.

2.  When reading ingredients and labels, less is usually more. The shorter the ingredient list on the side of the box, the better. You are also looking for shorter words IN the ingredient list. See if your kids can pronounce the words. If they can’t don’t buy it!

3. Grandmother Guideline – If your grandmother didn’t have it in her kitchen, you probably don’t want it in yours. So if you come across an ingredient that you can’t even pronounce, chances are that Grammy would not have had it sitting in her cupboard or on her counter.
